With their rich, shimmering green cores encased in translucent sapphire swirls and highlighted by bold metallic-pink numerals, this set looks like a piece of enchanted mineral or raw gem pulled straight from an underground cavern. Let's call them The Heart of the Verdant Abyss.
The Legend of the Verdant Abyss
Deep beneath the jagged peaks of a subterranean rift lies the Verdant Abyss—a subterranean cavern where geothermal heat fuses ancient copper veins, lapis lazuli, and glowing moss into strange, crystalline formations. At the cavern's center stood the Sovereign's Pillar, a colossal column of raw green malachite and azurite that pulsed with the ley-line energy of the Underdark.
During the Age of Shattered Stone, a dwarf geomancer named Kaelen Ironvein attempted to tap the pillar's resonance to forge defensive wards for his hold. As his chisels struck the core, the pillar fractured, releasing a surge of compressed elemental magic that fused the surrounding mineral water and molten copper into hard, geometric resin shards.
Kaelen spent the remainder of his life shaping these crystallized fragments into seven polished polyhedrals. He etched the numerals in metallic rose-gold ink, mixed with crushed garnet, to honor the subterranean magma that tempered the stones.
Campaign Hooks & Mechanics
- Resonant Gem: When held near raw ores or worked gemstones, the metallic green core appears to shimmer under light, making the dice ideal for a Dwarf, Artificer, Earth Elemental Sorcerer, or Deep Gnome character.
- Geomancer's Favor (Nat 20): A critical success causes the green shimmer to catch the light sharply. The roller gains a temporary +1 bonus to Armor Class until their next turn as a thin layer of phantom stone hardens around them.
- Subterranean Weight (Nat 1): A critical failure causes the deep blue ink to cast a heavy shadow across the die. The character experiences a moment of claustrophobic pressure, reducing their movement speed by 5 feet on their next turn.
