The Shard of the Deep-Earth Geode
Deep beneath the surface of the earth, past the tunnels of the goblins and the mines of the dwarves, lies the Sunless Sea. Along the shores of this underground ocean, rare geodes grow over millions of years. Instead of being regular rock, these geodes are fueled by shifting elemental magic, causing them to glow with brilliant greens and blues.
A legendary dwarf blacksmith discovered one of these giant geodes. Instead of smashing it, he carefully harvested the glowing crystal core. He split the crystal into seven perfect shapes—one for each of the core D&D dice—and polished them until they shone like the surface of a magical pool. He used enchanted obsidian ink to number the sides so they would be ready for a true explorer.
If your character carries this set into your next campaign, they bring the shifting power of the earth:
- The Color-Shift Magic: When you roll the dice, the way the light hits them makes it look like the green and blue are constantly fighting for control. Some say they turn greener when you are near gold, and bluer when you are near water.
- Underground Sight: Because these came from the deepest parts of the world, rolling them for "Perception" checks in dark caves or dungeons gives your character a sudden burst of sharp intuition.
- The Earth's Weight: When you need to stand your ground against a giant monster, rolling these dice makes your character feel as unmovable and tough as a solid mountain wall.
Are you ready to bring the glow of the Sunless Sea to your gaming table?
