The Shards of the Forge-King's Shield
Deep within the Iron Crags, there is a legendary mountain fortress where the great Forge-King used to craft unbreakable armor for his army. The heart of the fortress is a giant volcanic forge that burns with an enchanted, ancient fire. Over centuries, the extreme heat from the lava combined with the heavy soot from the forge created a rare, super-hard black mineral called Night-Iron.
A traveling tiefling fighter visited the ruins of the old fortress and found a shattered piece of the Forge-King's personal shield, made entirely of solid Night-Iron. Instead of melting it down into a weapon, he decided to cut the indestructible black stone into a perfect set of seven gaming dice. He used melted copper coins from the treasury to meticulously fill in the thin numbers, creating the exact sharp look you see.
If your character carries this set into your next campaign, they bring the heavy, unstoppable power of the volcanic forge:
- The Onyx Shadows: When you look at the dice, the solid black faces seem to hide the dice's power until the exact moment you roll them. Players say these dice roll best when your character is planning a surprise attack or trying to blend into the shadows during a night raid.
- Unyielding Defense: Because these stones came from a legendary shield, rolling them for "Saving Throws" or physical "Constitution" checks gives your character a sudden burst of tough luck, making you feel as solid as a stone wall.
- The Copper Strike: The thin copper-bronze numbers carry the burning energy of the old volcanic forge. When your character swings a heavy axe or casts a fiery combat spell, these dice help your strikes hit with maximum force.
Are you ready to use the dark, metallic magic of the Forge-King's shield to win your next D&D adventure?
