The Shards of the Shadow Willow
Deep inside the Shadowfell—a spooky, dark dimension where shadows come to life—stands a single, legendary tree called the Shadow Willow. This ancient tree doesn't drink water; instead, it absorbs the fading twilight and dark magic of the realm. Over hundreds of years, the sap that drips from its branches hardens into solid, smoky quartz crystals that look just like trapped dark fog.
A clever rogue who was exploring the shadow realm wanted to bring a piece of this darkness back to the regular world. He snuck past the shadow monsters, harvested seven pieces of the hardened sap, and shaped them into a perfect set of gaming dice. To make sure they stayed hidden in the dark, he inked the numbers with deep charcoal black, creating the exact look you see.
If your character carries this set into your next campaign, they bring the stealthy power of the shadows:
- The Swirling Twilight: When you look at the dice, the dark, smoky mist inside looks like it is shifting in the light. Some players say these dice roll best when your character is trying to hide in a dark corner or sneak past an enemy guard.
- Shadow Vision: Because they were born in a world without sun, rolling these dice for "Perception" checks in dark dungeons or spooky forests gives your character a sudden burst of sharp intuition.
- The Ghostly Escape: When your party is surrounded by monsters and needs to make a quick getaway, rolling these dice can help your character create a sudden burst of thick smoke to blind your enemies just long enough to escape.
Are you ready to use the sneaky magic of the Shadow Willow to conquer your next D&D adventure?
