The Whispering Shards of the Eclipse
At the apex of the High Celestial Spire stood the Observatory of the Forgotten Sun, an ancient sanctuary built to study a legendary solar eclipse that occurred only once every millennium. During this alignment, the celestial veil thinned, allowing the cold, swirling light of the Astral Plane to bleed into the pitch-black shadows of the abyss.
Seeking to harness the raw power of this rare conjunction, the High Diviner Valerius forged seven geometric vessels out of dark obsidian-glass. As the moon completely devoured the sun, Valerius cast a grand ritual, drawing down the ethereal white mists of celestial light and trapping them in a violent, swirling tempest against the deep, smoky blackness of the abyss within each vessel. To bind the volatile magic, he inlaid every face with antique gold runes, echoing the ring of light that crowned the darkened sun.
Known as the Whispering Shards, these dice are said to vibrate faintly with the residual echoes of the cosmos, favored by Graviturgy Wizards, Shadow Sorcerers, and Clerics of Twilight.
- The D4 (The Solar Fragment): Pinpoints the precise instant light gives way to darkness, piercing magical illusions.
- The D6 (The Void Cube): Anchors the bearer's presence within shadowy realms, shielding them from dimensional rift hazards.
- The D8 & D10s (The Corona Prisms): Channel the contrasting energies of radiant light and void damage, tearing through enemy wards.
- The D12 (The Astral Vault): Holds the heavy silence of deep space, dampening surrounding sound and subduing ambient magic.
- The D20 (The Eclipse Eye): Swirls with the full fury of the cosmic alignment; a critical roll manifests the raw force of a dying star or the absolute calm of the void.
Would you like a custom magic item stat block or a narrative hook to introduce these dice as an artifact in your campaign?
