With swirling mists of deep magenta, toxic metallic green, amber-orange glows, and sharp metallic blue numbering, this set looks like a bubbling cauldron of forbidden alchemy or planar chaos. Let’s name them The Witch-Queen’s Brew.
The Legend of the Witch-Queen’s Brew
High in the crags of the Ironclaw Mountains stood the obsidian tower of Morwenna, a legendary hedge-sorceress who dabbled in planar alchemy and wild chaos magic. In her pursuit to brew an elixir of ultimate fortune, Morwenna combined volatile reagents from across the realms: crushed demon-lotus petals, liquid emerald from the Underdark, amber sap from the World Tree, and the condensed mist of a dying storm.
As she stirred her great copper cauldron, a rogue spark from the Feywild struck the mixture. Rather than exploding, the cauldron’s swirling, multi-colored contents instantly hardened into a translucent, crystalline mass—trapping the violent reaction mid-churn forever.
Centuries after Morwenna vanished into the Planes, a cunning rogue recovered the petrified cauldron floor and carved the vibrant, swirling resin into seven polyhedral stones. They inked the numerals in deep metallic blue, using the ground scales of an abyssal serpent to lock in the volatile magic.
Campaign Mechanics & Flavor
- Alchemical Surge (Nat 20): A critical success causes the magenta and green swirls within the dice to shimmer brightly under light. The rolling player gains a brief surge of chaotic energy, adding +1d4 force damage to their next successful attack or spell roll.
- Unstable Catalyst (Nat 1): Rolling a natural 1 makes the amber interior appear to darken and smoke. The player experiences a momentary backfire of magical static, giving them a -1 penalty to their next saving throw as a faint smell of ozone fills the air.
- Ideal Classes: These dice carry the chaotic, unpredictable essence of a Wild Magic Sorcerer, Alchemist Artificer, Fiend or Archfey Warlock, or any practitioner of forbidden hedge-magic.
